January 1980
one Iran Air 727-86 hit high ground near Tehran (Lashkarak)
in snowstorm during approach. All eight crew members and
120 passengers were killed.
- 3
July 1988
during the last days of Iran-Iraq war; one Iran Air A300
was shot down by a surface to air missile from the American
naval vessel U.S.S. Vincennes in Persian Gulf, near Straits
of Hormuz. All 16 crew and 274 passengers were killed.
- In
1993,
an Iranian airliner collided with an air force jet just
after takeoff from Mehrabad Airport killing over 130 onboard.

September 1996,
A Boeing 737-200 (license EP-IRU) of Iran Air crashed 5km
from Rasht airport, north of Iran, after a series of 15
take-offs and landings during pilot training. 4 of the 7
crew members died.

February 2000,
An Airbus 300 operated by Iran Air, was being towed across
the Tehrans's Mehrabad airport when a C-130 with mechanical
problems impacted the airplane. The Airbus was totally destroyed.
